Painting red deal doors white

I dont know if anyone has advice on painting doors white. We were told in one place not to paint red deal as the knots in the wood show through. We were told later by another person that there is a special coating to prevent this. Also hoping to have raised mouldings on the doors. What would you suggest is the best wood for painting or would red deal be fine?

there is a solution you can buy called Knotting, also probably other brands too, it's brown liquid in a glass bottle and you just dab it onto the knots with a small paintbrush - it seals the knots to stop them bleeding through the paint. We used it on all of our doors and skirting before painting them and it worked a treat.
