Painting Outside

Hi all,

We have decided to put our house on the market at the start of April next year. Problem is there is a little bit of touching up painting wise that needs to be done outside and not the ideal months to do it. Would you wait until late March to try to get it done or go for it later this week when we hopefully will have have a few dry days in a row?

Probably need 6 hours drying at 10C from what I've read.

I'd wait and paint the whole place properly when you can; touch ups have a habit of being more noticeable than the original damage.

Not too sure I would get the weather in late March to do that either. It's to paint 2 outdoor steps, wall cappings on a back outdoor wall and probably 3 other little touch ups. Got the rest of the houses painted in September, should have done it then but hadn't decided to sell at that stage!

Yeah, too cold now, even if you get a good day, the surface temperature is likely to remain low which will affect how the paint adheres and dries.

The steps are the ones I think are going to catch me in March as well as they don't get much sun. Any ideas on coverings I could get for steps? Was looking at the below but I think they will show through the peeling paint so won't look great

People always think March is spring & lovely...but reality is it's as cold & bad as right now!! Honestly, having sold two houses pretty recently (since 2017!) a bit of painting outside wont do much to sell it quicker. It doesn't hurt for sure, but I wouldn't worry about it too much. On the other hand, you say it's only a handful of touchups...then just wait to see if you get an odd 12-15 degree sunny day (which we might!) & go for it...it's only touching up anyway.
