Painting furniture - what colour

Hi guys

We have just finished painting our sitting room - the colours are beige and cream. We do not want to go to a lot of expense in this room because it will only be used as a sitting room for the next year or so - after that it will be a bedroom. Anyway in the room there is a very large built in dark stained cupboard. We do not want to take it out yet, even though it is horrible because we will have to plaster behind it etc and we want the room to be ready for XMAS - eventually we will be putting wardrobes in it's place. The question is, for now is it possible to paint this unit to get it to blend in - as stated the colours of the room are beige/brown and cream. The unit seems to be some sort of chip board with a dark stained finish on it i.e I don't think sanding it down is possible. If it is possible to paint it - what colours would people recommend - would white be even more obvious?.

Hello,

We just painted some furniture using 'French White' in a satin soft sheen (for wood) by Colourtrend paints and it turned out lovely. Spend some time priming the unit before painting and it will pay off for you.
