painting a bedroom that had alot of posters stuck to walls

I am in the proccess of removing posters from a bedroom wall. It is taking off some of the paint also so I am left with patchy walls and there is also small stickers all over the place which I feel I will have to try and scrape off. How will I get the walls back to a good state to be able to paint it. Is there any good solutions out there to get all this off. Will I have to sand down the walls where the old paint has come off.?

For removing the residue left by stickers etc, try 'Sticky stuff remover' which I saw in Aldi (I think, might have been Lidl) today. I have some of this stuff and used it recently to remove sticker residue from a child's cot, the cot is very old with soft white paint, and the stuff worked really well and didn't take off the paint. Haven't tried it on walls myself, but might be worth giving it a go.
