Paint Cracked on Wall and Plaster coming off

In our kitchen at the top of the wall near the celing, some paint has cracked and some plaster has come loose. Is there any quick effective way of sorting this out or would I need a plasterer to do a patch job and then repaint it once it dries out?
 
buy filler and do it yourself. very easy and cheap
 
knock off the excess plaster. sand down. put in filler, sand again. keep filling until its nice and even. sand and paint!!! the builders left two plug sockets brutal looking in my new house and instead of asking them back in again i did it myself , no problem at all. you can buy the ready made filler anywhere - jsut add water
