Paid for airport carpark weeks in advance then got a BIG extra cc charge €239?

I went away for 5 days at xmas and used a well known airport carpark, to save hassle I booked online a short term one at a special rate for 5 days and paid well in advance. When I got to car park it would not recognise no. plate so used cc that I had used to pay online. Got in etc.

Now I find that a further 239 euro has been taken from my cc with no notification. !! I then went back online and checked my booking, I was stunned! It showed that I had entered car park at 9.00am and exited at 9.00am on same day ie 22 december. But I never got to airport car park until 15.40 22 Dec.

It was only by accident I noticed amount on cc statement.

I have emailed them today but worried in case they can quote T&C's.

How can they take money without even notifying me? I pushed no buttons when I used cc to gain entry or got any tickets. I am gobsmacked.

Email company. Wait 3 days for positive reply. If that is not forthcoming, ring your card compnay and get them to issue a chargeback. Problem solved.

It showed that I had entered car park at 9.00am and exited at 9.00am on same day ie 22 december.

The statement showed you entering and exiting at the exact same time! Surely there should be no charge for this.
 
I hope that they will do a refund and if not hope as you say the cc will oblige. What worried me was the fact the had me exiting on the day of arrival before I even got there. This was the time of the bad freeze and I travelled from clare where it was -5c. The new M6 saved me.

It gets better now found an email in my spam dated 13 Feb 2010 saying I entered at 09.00 am 22 Dec and exited at 00.01am 22 Dec. I kid you not. Charge on email says 90 euro but not shown on cc statement.

The original booking was from15.00 22 Dec until 15.00 28 Dec and paid for on 30th Nov. They charge a full day even though I got back at 23.30 27 Dec 09.

I did go into "D" initially and barrier would not open, used card and the kept it, then buzzed an assistant who gave card back and as I had cars behind he raised barrier and I was let out at D exit. I was surprised when car reg was not recognised but I know why now.

I think if you pay in advance and then exit they can still charge you and they may throw that at me but I was barred anyway by them. A bit worrying as it could happen again and may have happened to others. If it gave a receipt then you would know and could query it immediately. They don't do phone calls only email or letter which is another worry as it reminds me of a famous irish sports channel.

Something similar happened to me recently. I phoned the company and they refunded the charge within 7 days. No explanation as to why the mistake happened but they did refund.
 
Actually I didn't phone them - on reflection when I phoned they advised to send an email but I did get a response promptly telling me they would refund.
 
just an update to say I would get a refund, no explanaion about clocking me out, nothing.
