The UK adventure travel company Exodus (exodus.co.uk) runs several trips to Japan. You can book them in Ireland with Colette Pearson in Abbey Travel (804 7153). I was in Tokyo a few years ago, but stayed with friends so I can’t give any advice on accommodation. But once you’ve got that worked out Tokyo is really good fun. It’s easy to get around and is not particularly expensive. I’d allow about 4 days, maybe 5 to see it properly and for trips outside to places like Kamakura. The Lonely Planet guide book contains all you need to know. Likewise for Hong Kong, you don’t really need a package; just get accommodation sorted out and then go exploring.
