Package holidays to Italy

Hi,

I would like to get some info on package holidays to Italy for my parents. They are mid fifties and would love to go but won't do the looking around for themselves!!

Ideally, they would like a 1 or 2 week trip taking in a few cities, certainly Rome and Florence, with guided tours etc included. They are the kind of poeple that like to be brought places as opposed to have to find them themselves!! Perhaps day trips to places like Sienna or Pisa would be prefect.

Any advice on companies that are good at organising this sort of thing??

We went to the Lake Garda region of Italy last summer travelling with Sunway who also provided accommodation. They do other locations in Italy too.
We were free to do as we pleased or take any of the Sunway day trips to Venice, Verona or into the Dolomites. Many of the people on the trips were of the age group your parents might be.
The traveldepartment seem to do all-in trips i.e. everything included up front.

Hi,

Explore Worldwide also do escorted tours.
I think most of them are walking holidays, but they might have some more relaxing ones. There are 11 holidays to Italy here :

In the Indo and Times, they also advertise group escorted holidays. I forget the company, but my parents went on one and were very pleased (even if they found the average age group to be a bit old, (and they are in the 70s!)).

These guys are way too expensive.
Try other resources or be prepared to have you pants pulled down around your ankles.

Abbey travel are very good for packages to Italy. We went fly drive to Tuscany and Umbria 3 years ago and it was absolutely magical. When I did the figures on it I reckon they were not much more expensive than going independently.

Went to Lake Como and Florence on our honeymoon with a UK company called "The Magic of Italy" top class, but pretty pricey.

All the package operators do deals on Rome-Florence-Venice.

It depends on the holiday you choose. I have had real disasters with this company and I have had nice holidays with this company. One thing is certain, if you have a bad holiday with them and make a complaint they don't want to know. I unfortunately had a bad holiday with them in early October and two months later they are still "looking in to it". At this point in time I am going to hand matters over to a third party i.e The small claims court and let them decide.
