Hello. There have been a few threads on this in terms of search but never finish off the information required.

I am due to finish a full time job, having worked all year and paying tax at the higher rate for several months.

I am going to leave Ireland, go to New York for a few weeks for my brother's wedding then go to Belfast to spend some quality time, do some work on the parents' house and then I'm off to Africa for 3 weeks.

After this I intend to move to London and seek employment.

All posts concerning the P50 ask if the person submitting it intend to work in the country they go to. What happens if they do? And what if they do not intend to do so straight away? Or if they intend to but don't have luck in getting a job. Or if something comes up where someone hadn't intended to work.

Etc etc you get my drift. Thanks in advance.

As you will be deemed to be taxable on your worldwide income on a calendar basis, Revenue wish to see that your entire income in that period is covered, thus the nature of the P50 questions. A refund of Irish tax is only due where you are not intending to work abroad and yiou have underutilised your tax credits and bands. However if you do work abroad and suffer foreign tax, then this can be credited against your total tax payable in ireland in a year of assessment.
