P45's destroyed

I'm really sorry if this type of subject has been posted before but I'm so worried about this I didn't search through the forum.
My previous P45's unfortunately got destroyed and now I've been asked to complete an F12 for the tax office and they want a copy of my P45 for 2008 and I just don't know what to do. Can I request a copy of all my P45's for previous years or 2008 alone?
Any help would be greatly appreciated-thanks for taking the time to read this.

Dont worry , its not a criminal offence - not to produce a P45.

Could there be a copy in your local Social Welfare Office ?

Anyway , all the information on your P45 is already in the Tax office . This would have been declared on the employers P35 , which should have been sent to tax office by Feb/Mar '09.

Are you sure , its not your P60's you are enquiring about ?

Thanks allthedoyles, appreciate the help.
When I completed the F12 it asked what I earned in 2008 so I took the figure from my P60. The tax office called to say they had a different figure and could I send a copy of my P60 and P45. Luckily I have the P60 but nothing else. I'm just useless when it comes to figures/tax and am a little bit worried about it.
I'll send on the copy of the P60 and hope that's enough.
Is it vital that I have a copy of all my previous P45's from past employers?

Nope , its not vital , and previous P45 , should have been given to your new employer , and so on , depending on how many employers / P45's you received in 2008.

You should enter all your 2008 employers on your tax return and if everything is in order , the tax office will have all the necessary info , including all tax paid by you in 2008 .

Paye tax returns should not be complicated , and indeed , it is not even necessary to fill in form 12 . Some people just send a note to tax office asking for a balancing statement , others just send in their P60 , while more complete form 12 . The choice is yours

Thanks again for your help, it's really appreciated. The tax office said they randomly pick out people to fill out the F12...lucky me. I was told by a friend that I had to have a copy/part of my P45 for all past jobs, so when my copies got destroyed I became worried. But if this is not the case and the P60 should be enough for the tax office then I guess I'm okay.
Thanks for this.

Or photo copy before giving it to new employers. Prsi details are not carried forward so at year end you may have only 26 Prsi payments recorded on the P60
