Some of you may have read TimothyC's post on establishing a knowledge base for making Polish investments. This is now in progress and he and others are adding useful links and investment information to it. The main idea is that one shares the research that they have gathered rather than making requests for information - the latter can also be made but this is a secondary matter. The objective is to have a large resource of data so that one can make informed investment decisions. It also eliminates the random searching of the web that everyone undertakes when researching new markets.

I have asked TimothyC if he would open up the knowledge database to other countries and this is supported. Most of the discussion to-date is on Poland which is TimothyC's personal interest. I personally would welcome the same happening on other countries so that I could get an insight into investment opportunites there.

To move things forward, what is now needed is the following:

1) a list of the countries and cities that people are interested in (so that www.askaboutproperty.com can be modified to accommodate them), and

2) Volunteers to lead the knowledge sharing on each country/city. I presume TimothyC would be open to the establishment of forum moderators for each location but would need to check that.

I would appreciate if people would revert on the above by replying here or sending me a PM.

Remember that the knowledge base only works if everyone uploads what they know - a team effort!

Update:

TimothyC has kindly updated www.askaboutproperty.com so that people can share their knowledge on the following countries:

Spain
Bulgaria
Hungary
Germany
United Kingdom
Turkey
Portugal
France
Poland

I also copied his comments which are in effect the first post for each new country added:

"As the thread title implies, the purpose of this site is for people to share what they already know about a particular location. All people have to do is to upload links (about locations, developments, economics, financing), overviews, their comments on locations and developments from visits, tax guidance, etc. This should save hours of random internet searching and hopefully each user will get from the site as much as they give. And ultimately, people will have enough information to know if they should proceed or not with the making of an investment. And if they do proceed, they should also learn how best to manage it.
Please do join in and share this philosophy."

So please do as he says, start sharing :)

Absolutely.

Building up a knowledge base and sharing info is what it is all about. The only for profit part is what people learn from it - and that's for myself as well. However, anything that I do learn or find when researching, I am glad to share with others as I have been doing on Warsaw. Still surprised with the question by the way...F.Kruger probably didn't check out the site to see the general theme...

Thanks - just wondering and when I glanced at the site I couldn't find any obvious "about us" type information that clarified the intent/mission statement (ugh) of the site.
