Overpayment deadline

Hi,

Hope someone can help me here, I was recently made redundant and my employers made a mistake and overpaid me by over €2000 in my final payment.

This error was not noticed by myself or the company until sometime later, my former employers want the extra money back, understandable I know, the problem is that I thought I was being smart by investing the money at a fixed rate for a few months. My former employers are now threatening legal action if I do not repay the full amount.

I have said I will pay it back but would like to do it in instalments as otherwise I will suffer a penalty for something that was not my fault.

Any advice?

I dont know where you legally stand, you would need to seek legal advise from that point of view - but I reckon, its there money and they are entitled to it back now?!?!
