Overdue Rent

Hi

was hoping to get some advise. Will be late for this month's lease payment for a small shop I opened up last year - will have to inform landlord today that there will be 1 week delay - does anyone have any experience with a situation like this?

Sale is down in the last 3 months plus I am having problems to get rent invoices off my landlord for VAT repayments for the last 4 months.

I think you would be well within your rights to withold the rent on account of not receiving VAT invoices.

My suspicious nature would lead me to believe your landlord is not making VAT returns for the rent you have been paying.

I would put your request for the VAT invoices in writing so you have a record.

I got the one for Aug 08 - Nov 08 of him no problem but since the VAT change in December 08 I have only problems. The Dec invoice he sent me shows 21% instead of 21.5% and the January 09 one shows January 08. No sign of February 09 and March 09 yet.

There is no point for me to use the wrong ones as Revenue is only going to decline them.
