Over the rainbow - who sings this version?

I've heard a particular version of SOTR a couple of times, and today I heard it played at a memorial Mass and it was beautiful. Can someone confirm who the singer is (possibly Israel Kamakawiwo`ole?). It's just one singer, one simple acoustic guitar, sounds almost amateurish. He doesn't even sing all the correct words at the right time, but it's just beautiful in its simplicity.

Does it break into "What a wonderful world" half way through? If so it is probably Israel Kamakawiwo'ole alright.

Yes it does - that's the one then. Do you know any more about him? Is it on a particular album that you know of?
Thanks.

Ever hear of http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00000JFG3/qid=1152209291/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/103-4683950-9778221?s=music&v=glance&n=5174 (Amazon)?

You can even have a listen.

Buy it on iTunes.
He's dead so the chance of him recording anything new is slim.
It's a fantastic version of the song and it's a shame such a talent is lost.

The song is set to be released again so you should have no trouble getting the single.

It's on a few of his (Israel's / Iz's) albums but they are import only in HMV and cost a fortune.

Alternatively you can buy the soundtrack for Finding Forrester, you'll probably get it for under a tenner 'cos it's quite old, and the song is on it in full. Plus you get some funky jazz tracks too :)
