Over 10 years of service - Redundancy

A friend of my recently made redundant after over 10 years of service with a private company, construction related.

Is it correct that he is only entitled to statutory redundancy + ex-gratia payment from the company.

As it turns out he has only recieved a small gift from the company as an ex-gratia payment.

Is he entitled to anymore redundancy?

Note that the company is not closing down.
