Outlet/Shopping mall LA

Flying to LA for 3 weeks holiday in California. With the cheap dollar I was thinking of not taking a lot of stuff (clothes) with me. Can anyone recommend/point me in the direction of an outlet/ large scale shopping mall ? Would it make a difference in price whether you find one in West H'wood or one more on the outskirts ?

There is a whole area in Downtown called fashion City!...full of brand name past season shops etc.
