I am thinking about converting three rooms into one large room.

At the moment its a kitchen with small breakfast area, dining room and conservatory. The dining room and conservatory are already connected but the kitchen is separate.
The dining room has no window as the conservatory extension is built onto where the window was. Dining room seems dark because of no window and contrast to super bright conservatory.

Anyhow, I would need to knock a few walls. One is the old outside wall of the house. One has a radiator on it. Electrics would also have to be moved, just sockets on some walls.
I would have to move some kitchen cabinets too. No water or gas to be moved.
Its all south facing and I can imagine how lovely it would be. We are hoping to stay here for a while yet so we should get value out of it. It would be our main living area, kitchen, dining and family room.

Has anyone done a job like this?
On a major budget too so would like to keep costs down. Did you reuse kitchen cabinets? How did you deal with flooring? I have some of the old floor tiles in the shed, would it be practical to just tile up to the flooring in the other room and save on reflooring costs?
How much did the structural work and re-plastering cost?
Did you end up with supporting columns in the middle of the room?

We got a similiar job done but we got other jobs done at the same time so not 100% sure on the actual costs. We did re use kitchen cabinets but got new tiles in the kitchen but kept the hardwood floor in the then dining room.

I think you should get a few quotes before you make a start on it.

Also, walk around and around all the rooms standing in every corner etc. and try to visualise what it will look like because I have seen others do this job and in my opinion they dont get the full benifit and end up with a certain amount of space that is not utilised.

Make sure that you dont end up with a space that is impossible to heat in the winter - conservatories tend to be too cold in winter and too hot in summer, you want to be sure that you end up with a climate in the area that is pleasant in any weather extreme, and that you can control.
