Open/Outdoor space requirements & Planning permission

Hi all,

I am planning to build a house and I have a quick question:

I have read that there is a min requirement of building new houses with a 25sqm open/outdoor space. Does this specifically relate to the back garden? Or do rooftops and balconies count as open space too?

25 Sq. M would not pass the test for a new dwelling. Typically you need 15 Sq. M per bed space in the Dublin City area.
Bedspace is calculated on the number of occupants, so a double room is 2 bed spaces.
