Hi,
I am planning on going to Edinbrugh for the summer to work.. I have heard that it's a lot easier to get paid if you have a bank account over there. How would I go about opening an account over there and who would be the best bank?

Thanks

When I first moved to the UK, Bank of Ireland opened an account for me as they have branches over there. I just spoke with my local branch here, filled in some forms and they did the rest.

A lot of the BOI branches are now closed down so check it out before you go.
I think BOI have a branch in Glasgow but not in Edinburgh.

Ask your bank for a reference before you go. I know banks in London often look for a recommendation from your existing bank as well as id, proof of address etc.

you can open uk bank accounts when in the UK but without an address its a pain in the neck. You can try www.traveltowork.co.uk They open them same day with Barclays or HSBC and as far as Im aware you just book an appointment
