In early December, I made an online purchase from a London based medical supplies company to the value of €35. I thought the company was reputable but alas, the goods never arrived. Despite emails, phone calls and a letter, I have received no satisifaction or written response. My credit card shows the payment was made. The Co. acknowledges receipt in conversation but says the goods were dispatched ane they will look into into it. What can I do here? I have checked with the Credit Card but no progress on that front so far. any advice appreciated. thanks

Sounds like a scam to me. You should be able to get a refund through the credit card operator. Not sure how it is done but is definitely possible as have heard from others.

Google the name of the company and scam together and see if there are any results.

Perhaps the "medical supplies" you ordered are not legal in this State?

There's been a major customs crack down on importing medical supplies.. If its something that cant be bought over the counter in Ireland then there's every chance it'll be confiscated..

Ah, shouldnt have been a problem then, unless they thought it was illegal stuffs! Have you checked with both your local post office and sorting office? Perhaps theres a parcel floating around there for you.

Whats the name of the company?

If the company wasn't reputable, I would be surprised if they would acknowledge the fact that they received payment at all, or indeed are contactable at all.

The bank that issued your credit card must give you the money backif you ask for it, and it will get the money back in return from the store. They are all obliged to give the money back, because you signed nothing, and didn't enter your Pin code anywhere.

Thats not how it works at all Vivinne - sure anyone could do a chargeback for every online purchase thay have made.

You have 60 days to issue a chargeback.

Yes, you can do it on every purchase, but you don't because then the bank gets rid of you. But if the seller can't prove that it was you who made the purchase, you can get you money back. And an online seller can never prove that.

I just requested a chargeback for a similar issue. Bank asked me to send the various emails I sent the company and they said they have to give the company 30 days to respond to their enquiry. So without a response I will get the amount back in 30 days. That is how it works.

there is a lot on good info here many thanks to everyone! I have been speaking with credit Card co. Now they are to send me a form to complete and return with details of all contacts etc with the supplier. It seems that I may get my money back that way. I will update you all as the matter proceeds.

Just to update people, I completed the form for the Credit Card Co and returned it together with evidence of purchase (email confirmation of order) as requested. My account was refunded in full on 31 March. Thanks again for the advice.
