Online brokers

eToro initial experience is very frequent tick boxes about US tax - which I did not experience on Degiro.

Also charged a 1% + fee for a EUR deposit which was not clearly stated - very unimpressed. Thankfully it was a small deposit, and I could subsequently make a larger one in USD using Revolut USD

So far - unimpressed.

Trading 212 is 4.2% currently
Trading 212 is a money market account, which means instead of DIRT, you have to pay Exit tax of 41% so the Net rate, after tax is 2.4%
Trade republics 4% is a savings account so DIRT and the Net rate after tax is 2.7%

Interactive brokers

No Annual custody or account fees.
Very low currency conversion fee
Very low trading fees.
No transfer in charge.

If you want a referral code I can send you one.
Could you send me a referral code pls. Is referral code required for signup, or what does it give you ?

Would you use degiro
I use degiro and IBKR.

Their fees are slightly higher that IBKR.

One major disadvantage with degiro is that their foreign currency handling is more expensive than IBKR and less adaptable.

An advantage with degiro is that their platform is a lot simpler to operate than IBKR's platform.

If you put the effort into learning how to operate IBKR's platform it offers a lot of very usefull features not available from degiro.

What are the annual custody fees for an account with IBKR ?
I am currently paying a flat e200 with an Irish broker.

Am paying €123 for an execution only service from Goodbody, also looking to exit before they increase their annual fee

To be honest, the annual fees on any account trading in non-euro denominated assets are insignificant compared to the savings on FX charges with Interactive Brokers versus most others.

I don't pay annual fees with IBKR but, more importantly, my FX charges have saved me thousands over the past year versus what Goodbody, or even Degiro, charge. I believe Goodbody charge up to 1.25% and Degiro 0.25%. The cheaper of those two figures would be €25 on a €10,000 exchange. I don't have the exact figure to hand but I believe my latest trade was for a similar amount but more than 90% less commission, at around €2.

What online broker are people currently using, as an Irish resident?
Annual custody / account fee?
I would be transferring across a number of holdings.

thanks
I use Trading212. No issues with them whatsoever and no fees for investing in ETFs apart from FX charges on non-EUR funds. I espeically like their PIE system for creating your own funds.

I also use Lightyear and Degiro. Lightyear as a backup in case Trading212 hit financial issues. It's "fine" but it does a much smaller selection of funds than Trading212. I joined Degiro mostly for the bond trading which isn't available on Trading212.

Trade Republic refused my application and refuse to tell me why. A friend of mine had his transfer into trade republic vanish and he spent a week or two chasing up customer support to locate his funds. If you research it, he is not the only one.

So if had to pick one, I would pick Trading212. But it's worth remembering we have 20k broker bankruptcy protection per broker.
