Online booking website gone bust....can you get your money back?

My friend booked two hotel rooms for the end of August in Manchester.
He phoned the hotel recently to confirm the booking to be told that the booking was allready cancelled.
On investigating further he found out that the booking company has gone into liquidation.
Can he get his money back? What can the credit card company do for him?

If your friend booked using a credit card he can get all the money back through the "chargeback "process with his card provider. He needs to ring them now to initiate the process.
If he used a laser card then thats a different story I cann't answer.
