One parent tax credit - How much?

Hi,first time poster!

I have recently applied for one parent tax credit and backdated it to 2005,my question is this, do I recieve the full amount(ie.1830 - 2006) or do I recieve 20% of this like the rent relief,any info would be much appreciated! Thanks

you will recive a credit for the full amount against any tax paid so if the tax paid equals or is more than the tax credit amount you will get this refunded. be carfeful of teh 4 year rule as Revenue will only go back 4 years for refunds which is very annoying to say the least.

Thanks viztopia,all my taxes are up to date (as far as I know!)been in full time employment for last 10 years. Checked online today with revenue and they have completed my forms from 2005 - 2009,was just unsure how much I would get. Thanks again for the rely.
