One of the '49ers and qualifying for State pension?

I was born in 1949 so will be eligible for the state pension in 2015 at 66, BUT I am employed by the HSE who operate compulsory retirement at 65 and am informed I will have to claim Jobseekers Allowance for the year between 65 to 66, thus saving the government €50 or so for that time, is this legal? There used to be a Transition Pension but that was scrapped last year.

You will be eligible to claim jobseeker's benefit, based on your PRSI contributions when you are 65. This has always been the case for people who did not qualify for Transition pension.
