I have a laser card and a normal ATM card on my current Account, because it is one account is it right that I am charged stamp duty on both cards. If so is there much hassle involved in changing this account to a joint Account.

You mean one Laser only and one ATM only card? Then each is subject to €10 SD and even if your merge the two cards into one then you will still pay €20. See [broken link removed]. I don't understand what making this a joint account has to do with anything?

Doesn't matter if it's a joint account, the duty is on the card not the account

Stamp Duty on Debit cards is charged on cards, but stamp duty on credit cards is charged on accounts. I have a credit card account with 4 cards, one stamp duty (€40)
