Older version MS Word2000 on vista. Restored factory settings now MS Word wont work?

have windows vista on newish laptop

Did not subcribe to get the new package for microsoft office 2007 (new word, excel, etc) when i bought it.

had sucessfully installed older version of word 2000 and all was well

Recently I had to get a professional to restore laptop to factory settings beacuse of another situation

Since than I cant get the old version of word to work
i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and the repair function


Any advise

Is the 2007 trial still installed, remove anything to do with office 2000 or 2007, then reboot and try reinstall of office 2k

have done that
same as before
it opens the microsoft page and at the bottom reads "requesting virus scan" which stays on the screen
Once I try to close "program not responding comes up

Any further advise?

Disable your antivirus for a minute and then try opening word - see if its an issue with the antivirus
