Old septic tank needs replacing but old house on less than 1/2 acre... Help

Hello

If we are buying an old house (older than 50 yrs) with a septic tank by side of house. We don't know if it works or not but would like to fit new one. The house is on less than half an acre. What happens if this is the case?

A bio plus or similar can be closer to the house than traditonal septic tanks - not sure of regs. but a phone call to EPS in Mallow (who supply Bio Plus Systems) will clarify distances etc.
