Offsetting Training Costs against business

Hello,

I am planning on registering myself as a sole trader this year. There is some training that I want to take relevant to my business. I notice that a course is due to start next week but I have not got myself sorted out to register as a sole trader yet. If I paid for and took the training now and registered as a sole trader later in the year, can I still offset this training cost as a business expense. I'm assuming No but if anybody could offer advice I'd appreciate it.

Thanks
E

Its not the registering as a sole-trader you should be thinking about - its actually trading !

Can you trade, even a little bit ? Then if the course is relevant to your trade, its allowable.

Hi,

Yes, I can trade to a small degree. Don't I have to register first though before I trade?

Thanks

Pre-trading exepnses in the 3 months before commencement are ok
