Hi, this is my first post but I read this site regularly.
I lost some (a lot!) of money in an Irish Life investment bond. The value was down but I needed access to the cash and sold at the worst possible time.
Say I invested €20,000 in 2007 and when I cashed in in 2008 it was worth €10,000.
Now I'm thinking of investing again. My question is, is there any way I can offset the loss I incurred from the investment bond against either future profits? Either against CGT or exit tax?
I posted this in the investment forum rather than tax as someone here probably had a similar experience. Thanks in advance.
