Hi,
I'm only a recent member so please bear with me :)
I'm just wondering if anyone is having any hassle from DCC in relation to what type of paper their Approval in Principle is printed on. I went through a broker and got my AIP from Haven but it was signed and all by my broker and printed on his headed paper but now they want it on Haven headed paper.
I can kind of see where they're coming from but on speaking to my broker he said he had the same problem with a previous customer but eventually DCC caved in and accepted it on his headed paper. My broker also offered to ring DCC and speak to them and apparently the person he spoke to said it was fine as it was!! I mean does the left hand not know what the right hand is doing or what?

Anyway this was meant to be a quick query and apologies for it descending into a bit of a rant but I have to have it all in by tomorrow and was just wondering if anyone else out there had found a way around the red-tape that seems to be ever more evident in this country.

Again apologies for the rant:confused:

Hi,

I sent in my Approval in Principle two weeks ago and I have heard nothing back since. I have phoned twice for an update but was just told to wait for a call from estate agent for a viewing. When I was first offered the apartment I cant tell you how excited I was, but now I feel deflated as I am dying to view it.

I also went through a broker but had no problem with the headed paper. Got my approval from First Active and it was on their headed paper.

Hope everything works out for you.

Hi Delphi,
I've been trying to get in touch with them this morning to make sure they actually received it.....so am I right in thinking that they let us know when we can view the apartment, do they arrange it with an estate agent? I was given the impression yesterday that I would get a viewing in the next wk or 2 and was even told I'd have a choice of apartments to choose from....but I'm not falling for that one!!!

Hi again,

When I rang I was told that they had received my approval in principal which is something. Was not told about a choice but maybe your the lucky one and will have a choice which would be great. We will just have to wait and hope we like what we are offered.

Do you know if there is parking available?

Yeah I was offered a 2 bed in Belmayne and from what I can remember it comes with parking.....I think she might've been just saying all that to get me to get all excited and rushing headlong into it though.
Anyway as it turns out they've mislaid my AIP that went in yesterday  .....I rang at 17.15 on the way home to make sure it was was faxed ok and by 09.30 morning they'd lost it! So I'm taking everything they say with a pinch of salt now! I might have to put them on speed-dial on my phone the way things are going:)

I just got a call to say we were being offered a 2bed apartment in Herberton. I haven't got my mortgage approval and im going on hols on Saturday for 2 weeks. When i told her this, she told me id have to have the mortgage approval in by tomorrow then! Guess i can kiss goodbye to that so!!

Hi Emma1980

Dublin City Council is a public body, funded and paid for by us taxpayers to SERVE us, the public!

Having holiday arrangements in place is not a crime and the official you are dealing with is being totally unreasonable - nobody could possibly get mortgage approval in a day!

If you are interested in Herberton then I suggest you pursue this matter. Get back onto Dublin City Council (keep a written note of all dates, times and full names, including surnames) and ask to speak to a supervisor. If you can't sort it out, get onto your local councillor to make representations for you.

If you are still not satisfied you can make a formal written complaint to the Ombudsman's Office or use Dublin City Council's complaints procedure. They are being so unreasonable and providing such a poor, inflexible service. Nobody should put up with this.....WE are the public that these public servants should serve!!

Anyone else got stories or ideas on how to deal with an infuriating DCC Housing Department?

Hey Emma

herberton apts are lovely. would be a pity to drop the offer. maybe you can put ur application for mortgage approval today or tomorrow, once the bank gets back to you, maybe u can ask a family member to drop the docs to DCC.

also like the post said below, that is not fair with DCC, you should talk to them again&arrange a new date for droppin in the docs. say you are interested but u have paid for your hols and you have to go, they shud b more understanding.

Hi Emma,

I have also been offered an apartment in Herberton and cant wait to see what I have been offered. You are mad to let the apartment go. If you go through a broker they are a great help. I was given a week to get my loan approval. You should reconsider as they look fab apartments.

Best of luck!

hey FTB1975, no reason in the world why your broker couldnt have given you your Haven AIP on Haven headed paper. I work for a brokers and we get the AIPs directly off the Haven system with the Haven logo so not sure why they couldnt give you same?

If i had a week to get my mortgage approval i wouldn't mind but i have practically hours to do it - its not possible, i can't even get to a bank cuz we're short staffed in work!! Anyways, i just rang them to decline the offer - im peed off but im not giving up my holiday haha!!
