Offered affordabale housing but now a student

My sister had applied 3 years ago for Affordable housing and just today was notified by the council of an appartment locally. Unfortunately she has left here job on career break and has just gone back to college for a year, so has no income for a mortgage. Can she get a deferred mortgage for a year until she returns to employment? any other ideas how to approach it? thank you.

Hi GMD,

A friend of mine has a similar experience - they were on the housing list for 18 months had all the approvals and was just waiting on a property. In the mean time they became redundant from their job. Two months later he started in a new job and was offered a house - when the DCC found out he was not in his current job six months his application was rejected.

Maybe that is just the DCC but I think you need to meet all the requirements at the time of the offer
