Would scanning them, storing the electronically and securely disposing of the original hard copies be an option? There are professional service providers who specialise in such electronic document storage and retrieval or you could look at it yourself depending on your IT knowledge/expertise and requirements.
Thanks for the suggestions. Will ring around. Boss a bit old fashioned and worried about scanning/etc, so would prefer files to go straight to storage.
Also, an awful lot of documentation to even think of scanning.
can I make a suggestion? if you have the space available on site, why not consider buying a 20 x 8' steel shipping container? we did this in our workplace.
They're dry, airtight, secure and accessible.
Cost us around E 1700 for a second hand one and another E 300+ for transport/delivery but at least it's a one off cost and not ongoing overhead.

We use a crowd called DFS in Dunshaughlin who appear to be the cheapest, especially if you require some files in a hurry. They are used by many firms of solicitors and some large companies.Used to use Iron mountain but their costs were prohibitive. It is worth your while getting a load of quotes and then going for the one you feel best with.
