Hello All
Any experience out there with UK OEIC funds? I'm trying to understand the tax implications to holding these?

I understand how uk dividends work from a personal taxation perspective but trying to understand how a UK fund will have to be accounted for by an Irish tax payer. Does holding an OEIC create liabilities to file a U.K. Tax Return or does the fund look after this?

Any experience or comments out there much appreciated.

41% tax on income and gains accounted for through your Irish tax return. It's an Offshore Fund for tax purposes.

Nope not only on disposal, you need to report to revenue when you purchase it, any dividends, any disposals and every 8 years you have a notional tax charge irrespective of selling or not.

OEICs not suitable for Irish residents, you should sell these before moving to Ireland and invest in a more appropriate strategy for an Irish resident investor.

Marc, would you have any suggestions on what a more appropriate strategy might be?
