Can you change the settings on your phone? If its a Nokia phone, under the Messaging / Options / Settings / Other, you should be able to set the Save Sent Messages, and set the number of messages you want saved.
For messages already sent, you should be able to log in to the O2 website, check My Account, and then the Recent Calls menu option which will show calls and texts.
