Ok, first of all I haven't a clue where to post this so...
Mods; feel free to move to where appropriate!
Right, does anyone remember the Nursing Home Repayment schemes whereby people were being illegally charged for their nursing home stay? Whilst a lot of people were reimbursed with the repayment scheme the government set up, there's a lot more people out there who have been fobbed off - are there any support groups / forums / sites / anything at all I can look up with regards to this?
I've heard that there's a group of people in Ireland bringing a High Court action against the Government however I cannot find any info at all on this or how to join it etc..
Basically the situation is this: Both of my Grandparents were in receipt of the Pension, towards the later years of their life they needed to be put in nursing homes. We tried to get them into the public, state nursing homes, however they were all full - waiting lists for years etc..
We were told we had no choice but to put them into Private Nursing homes - both of them were severely incapacitated, incontinent, in wheelchairs etc at this point.
There are a lot of other people out there in the same situation as us whereby we are being penalised for putting our family into private nursing homes, when we had no other option because the public ones were full.
All the while they were being illegally charged as they had pensions and medical cards and the families were made to cough up for the private nursing homes who could ill afford it at the time.
Is there anyone else out there in the same situation or know of anyone else who is?
Apparently there are thousands of other people in the same situation whose claims have been rejected because of this technicality but for the life of me I can't find any info on it.
I've read about a group of people joining together to take High Court action more than once in various papers but they never listed any contact phone numbers, names or addresses..
Can anyone point me in the right direction at all please?
