Hi All,

Every six months or so I get a call on my mobile from a stock advisor in the US. This caller speaks very quickly and uses a very firm tone and I almost have to shout to get the person to stop talking at me and listen to me. The caller states it is not a sales pitch but they just want to give me advice but it is obvious that this call is a strong sales pitch.

The past few times I got this call I told them to remove my details from their database and never to call me again at which point they usually hang up.

I don't know where they got my details but they told me once they got them because of a company I worked for, but I don't believe that. All they know about me is my name, my number and the name of that company I worked for.

The caller says they are calling from a company called Obsidian and the number they called from was +1 516 545 0310 though the number does vary slightly between calls. I did a search for the company online and found [broken link removed] and I have emailed them in the past to stop calling me but I got no response.

Does anyone have any advice how I can stop this nuisance calling once and for all? This has been happening every 5-6 months for about 3 or 4 years.

Thanks,
Stefg

P.S. I wasn't sure where to post so I hope this the best section for this post.

Just hang up... you have power to end the call - if they ring back, then a shrill blast of a loud whistle down the phone... or just play along, drag them along for as long as you can... record your time, then try to beat that time at the next occasion they ring... and inform them if you break your previous time... the longer they spend on a call to you, they lose "money"...

I get cold called now & again, from Irish, UK numbers ... usually I would take their details, ask for their supervisor details, what company they work for, business address, ask how they got my details etc etc.. request to remove from their database, but as it doesn't happen that often it's not a big thing...

Another option is to just leave the phone down with them talking and don't say anything. This will cost them lots and you nothing and I believe will be very effective in making them go away

Why do you answer the phone?
The calls can't "continue" if you don't answer them!
If they stop getting an answer they will soon stop calling!
