Was going to get Setanta Sports for the Permiership games. On Setanta website it states it only an extra €10 per month and gave a number to ring NTL, when i rang them, they told me it is costing €15 per month. I asked why? They said becuase Setanta are charging them more for it. So rang Setanta they said that they have not changed there price as it agreed at the start of the year. Just wondering can i get any help as a consumer because NTL are ripping us off!!

Re: NTL put up price for Setanta Sports!!!!

Both can charge what they like. It's €18 per month on Sky.

Re: NTL put up price for Setanta Sports!!!!

Remember also that Setanta premiership match package is second rate, as Sky are retaining all the plum fixtures. No fan of Sky myself, as i think they are poor value also with some matches gone to Setanta, Golf gone as well and price still the same!

Prices rise all the time-a €8 differential with Sky was unlikely to persist.

New Premiership season and the purchase of all those matches by Setanta didn't come cheap...

You have 2 choices-stick with NTL or go elsewhere-you cannot subscribe directly to Setanta-you must be a cable/satellite subscriber first.

Or is your complaint that you are locked into a contract at a higher price that you were not alerted to when you signed up?

Becuase they upped the price from €10 to €15. Just in the last 2 weeks.
So it's a simply price increase. If they charged you €15 after telling you the fee was €10 then that would be a rip-off.

This is almost "Letting Off Steam" material but what in gods name were the EU/whoever thinking when they interfered in the televised sport market? What was supposedly in the consumer's interests ends up as a complete stitch up and a genuine rip off.
Last year I paid approximately €50 a month, got the Premiership football, European golf and the PGA tour golf.
Now Setanta and Sky share the coverage I still have to pay the €50 but have to get Setanta as well! So because some bureaucrat decides I'm a "victim" of a monopoly now Sky make more money, Setanta make more money and I spend more money.
Ridiculous

I don't understand - how exactly have you established a link between interference by the EU/whoever in the televised sport market with increased retail prices nowadays?

SKY were forced to release a share of the Premiership rights
