have NTL broadband.

use my laptop - no problems.

put the ethernet cable into my pc - no joy. tells me i'm connected to a lan, tells me i'm connected at 100mbps, tells me how long i'm connected etc - but wont let me connect to the internet. - the PC works fine - i've used the net on it hundreds of times in diff. addresses.

i'm wondering, because the first time i used NTL broadband, i used the laptop - would NTL have recorded some details from that computer? and now that i'm trying to use a different computer i'm having trouble?

sorry to trouble AAM, but i've tried tried ringing NTL, i've given up and now i'm close to ringing the samaritans.

I've no direct experience with NTL's broadband set up, but you might check the IP properties for your network card and see if it has a fixed IP address - broadband routers usually require that you enable DHCP (the radio buttons with 'Obtain an IP address automatically' and 'Obtain DNS Server address automatically'). See [broken link removed] - link only viewable in Internet Explorer.
