NTL -Broadband ,TV but NO Phone?

I live in Saggart and am anxious to get rid of my Eircom phone line as it is costing me 70 euro bi monthly just for rental as the call cost is zero .

I called NTL about a good offer they have for BB , TV and Phone for 85euro a month , I estimate with what I am paying Eircom and SKY I could save money and get 6gb BB free wireless router and free DVR .
The problem is that they cant offer me the phone part of the deal as it is not available in my area ? how can they offer BB but not phone?

If i was to just go with the TV and BB deal and get rid of Eircom line do I have other options for phone service ..my question is this..

Could i use VOIP and will this cost extra ?
Will i need to have my laptop on and connected to BB to use VOIP ?
Do you have any other solutions ?

All advice welcome no matter how small you may think it is?

As far as I can remember VOIP plugs into the modem for the internet so this should not cost extra, as it is making a call over the internet, do they provide this service, you can always use www.google.ie and type some like Voip services with bordband, i think Digiweb do the bb and VOIP deal give them a call there website is www.digiweb.ie also www.imagine.ie is a cheap option they offer you phone calls unlimited to landlines and local numbers and bb for 45.00euros per month all in including vat give me a call also, hope this helps there may be others..

Look at this link this is the one you want if you pick Digiweb, also if they have this service in your area, Imagine.ie is cheaper I think

The best solution I think is to get your phone line off of Blueface. They do a deal where for 129 euros, you get all your calls for the year to any Landline in Ireland or the UK. As it is a VOIP service, it is delivered over your Broadband, so there is no landline rental seeing as you will get your BB from NTL. You can also keep/port over your eircom number to it.

No affiliation, just a happy customer with Blueface for 2 years now, quit paying landline rental 2 years ago.

Edit:- You dont need to have your laptop on to use it either, it functions exactly like a normal Landline, you even use a standard phone with it. You just have to buy an adapter (called an ATA), or a router with an ATA built in (better option), which Blueface can provide.
