I had posted in the closed thread about the upcoming sale of my investment property and how I was lucky that I was up to date. This was in reference to my online NPPR account where you made a 'self declaration' that you were or were not resident in the house at the qualification date.
In order to complete the sale of the home however you are then required to PROVE you were not living there by supplying a utility bill for the relevant year.
In my case I lived in the home for 2009 and 2010 and rented it out after that and moved elsewhere. My delcaration was correct but I now have to get a utility bill from 2009 and 1010 to PROVE this.
I was able to do so by calling Bard Gais but what will happen in years to come if there is a 8/10/20/ year gap between selling the home and proving you did live there ?
Who keeps utility bills for 20 years..?
