It's a piece that acknowledges that there are tricky things when you move there, highlights them, then gives advice on how to deal with it.

No point in reading 4 sentences at the beginning of a 2,000 word article and then ignoring what follows.

No, it’s evidence of reality biting everywhere. These people are failed Irish citizens and they’re failing again where they’ve ended-up because there’s no such thing as a free lunch. Surprise surprise the same issues we have in Ireland exist elsewhere and they can’t make ends-meet with their Philosophy Degrees providing counselling to pets who might be trans.
 
It's probably the "entitled" twenty somethings, moaning because they aren't being treated like the precious little angles that they think the are...

As long as we can keep shipping them out of Ireland, to far away places like Australia, then it's still a win, in my book, even if we do have to put up with the occasional bit of moaning, from far away places.
 
There are loads of jobs in Ireland, and loads of really good ones. The level of entitlement from our emigrants, AKA failed citizens, is breathtaking. Imagine there was once a proposal to allow our diaspora to vote!

Every generation has entitled people in it. The older "I worked hard all my life" generation is the one that I find to be the most entitled.

I do agree that people should not be surprised that the consequences of the international financial crisis and the international pandemic are being felt, well, internationally. I think that's a consequence of there being so many stupid parents here who think that our housing issues were caused by the actions of the Irish government and those same stupid parents raising their children to think the same thing. They then go to Australia and are surprised by reality.

That's a fair point (and I'd be sympathetic to those who have worked for many years), albeit I think it's likely to be the younger generations that will be out in Oz.

I'm one of those people and the entitlement of my generation, and my parents generation, is staggering. It is utter hypocrisy to accuse young people are entitled after selling out their future to protect ourselves from the consequences of our own greed and stupidity. If we hadn't sold them out we'd still be broke and they'd be able to buy houses here.

Ouch, speaking as a returned emigrant, that's a bit harsh. But then I left back in the early 90s when there were no jobs.

Grass is always greener on the other sides. I know people who are earning a tax-free fortune in Dubai for a few years, that will be the deposit and more when they return. I know people in some European countries who pay way more in tax but get much better social care and medical care etc. And I knew people in London as I used to do some voluntary work over there, who fell on very hard times

TBH, if you are young and not trying to live in Dublin, Ireland is not so bad
 
Some posters on here are starting to make Victor Meldrew look like a happy go lucky upbeat sort of a fella!
I would (and do) encourage any young person to head off for a few years to see the world and experience different cultures. Absolutely nothing wrong with some of those people highlighting challenges and advising how to make the best of the experience.
To call such people "failed Irish citizens" says a lot more about the poster than the people referred to.
 
In the economic circumstances of the 1950s - 1980s we used to export wingers and at least we got a decent football team out of it.

True, and we probably exported a lot of workplace strikers too... to Australia and US and Canada and UK... lot of Irish surnames on the Trade Union lists I imagine. Well known whingers about grievances :)
