Not Receiving Court Summons

Hi, Can some one please guide me for the consequences of not receiving a court summon. if u havent received the registered delivery, as u no longer reside on that address, what would happen? can the other party still go in court without even u knowing?

is this criminal or civil case, service is usually effected by personal service by a gardai or summons server or if by post it is delievered to last known place of abode within the state, if it is domestic there are ex partie applications which means the case runs without the other side knowing, this sounds as if you know one is coming but you need to expand on your circumstances
