Not paying tax - can I claim rent relief?

I have returned from the UK in March (I was sick in the UK). I used my savings to see us through until I got working in July. I'm not paying tax at the moment but with it just being me working and on a small salary I don't expect to. I've moved into rented in anticipation of my family home being sold here and see from this site that I am entitled to rent tax rebate

Is there any point in claiming a tax rebate when we do not pay any?

Re: Personal Taxation

As far as I know rent relief is just that - a relief - and not a tax credit so those who don't pay any tax don't benefit from it. However I could be wrong.
