im insured third party fire & theft ,while driving last night i could smell smoke so i pulled over and opened the bonnet ,there was flames coming from the engine so i ran up the road and rang the fire b , he reckoned it must have been leaking petrol or something , rang insurer this am and im told im not covered !! so p*ssed off ,3rd party "FIRE and theft " talk about misleading people , fire is fire !! any help much appreciated

Fire is FIRE when caused by accident, not mechanical failure. Read your policy carefully.

Yep mechanical breakdown isn't covered, are the fire brigade billing you for the call out charge?

strictly speaking all the damage caused by the fire should be covered, with teh exception of the actual piece that caused the fire. does that make sense? if there was a naked wire, then the cost of the wire would not be covered, but the rest would. Appeal as per your policy wording.
