North facing garden?

We are considering a semi-detached house that has a huge garden with plenty of space for anything you can imagine. Only problem is it is north facing. Can anyone tell me how much sunlight we can expect to get and at what times? It's a bad time of year to try to judge this.

Thanks niconeted.

I thought we still might get some in parts of the garden at some stage of the day in the height of summer.

We have a north facing garden, we get sun on the part of the garden not over looked by the house.

Yes, since you have a long backgarden, it will have sunlight as long as the sun is high enough above horizon to give an adequate angle to shine over the house. Might be only in summer months though that it gets high enough to do this, and for limited hours.

Go and have a look at +- midday ( on a sunny day LOL ) , Whatever sun you have on Feb 21 , you will have it even better for 8 months of the year , until Oct 21 . Unless the house is very tall , you will have plenty of sun in summer .

The longer the back garden the less the problem. The end of every north garden is south facing the only problem is the shadow of the house. The bigger your garden the less chance it matters.

It matters inside your house though, if its a traditional design with kitchen at the back, you will have a dreary room with no light, that you won't want to spend time in.
