Non Resident and capital gains?

Hi

I have property in my name in Ireland since 2001, however I have been living and working in Holland since 2000. If I now want to sell, will I be subject to capital gains tax?

With the proceeds I intend to purchase property in Holland to rent. What implications may that have for me tax wise in Ireland and Holland.

Thanks for any information.........

You might find some answers on the [broken link removed]. It's also possible that Dutch tax law (e.g. liability for CGT or other taxes in The Netherlands) and/or the [broken link removed] between the two countries might be relevant too. If in doubt get independent, professional advice.

Hi Rainyday

I am tax resident in holland.

Cheers

The Revenue Guide to CGT outlines so of the rules applicable to disposals of assets by people not resident/ordinarily resident in Ireland in case that helps. If you are liable for Irish CGT or other taxes then the double taxation agreement may allow you to claim a credit or refund in respect of these liabilities in the country of residence.
