I am engaged to be married in April to a woman from Aus. We are getting married in spain and hope that this wont cause any problems with immergration with regards to visa or work permit. She has been here for nearly 2years but with only a tourest visa, while trying to stay legal it has been a wait and see project with the DOJ. But now with the changes in non Eu spouses law,all is looking up. But we are still confused as the DOJ person we spoke to last, only last week, ded'nt know anything about it! Has anyone got any advice for us or any knolage as to her being able to work here or how best to continue. All help will be fantastic, thanks

Re: non EU girlfriend(soon to be wife) Marrage in spain

That law only applies if you're an EU citizen from a country other than Ireland. It's not clear from your post if that's the case.

Assuming that you are an Irish citizen...there should be no problem to get your marriage recognised in Ireland, and then her process to get a Join Spouse Visa (and Stamp 4) will be the same as if you marry in Ireland.

If you think it may complicate things, why don't you get the legal ceremony done in a registry office before the wedding in Spain ?

Thanks for you reply guys. Yes i am irish and we will now probably get married here first with celabration in spain. We have been reserching wedding in Spain and it looks like we cant get legaly married there unless we are resident for 3 years, and we wont have a religous ceramony.Shame that as her family wont be able to make it before the wedding date. Thank again for time and any other tips would be great.
