Non Contrib Widows Pension/Means Test

In the examples i have seen on relevant websites income usually is given as from savings. How is a pension from former employer treated? If say pension is 25k gross how does this translate into weekly means? Is it correct to say that your weekly means as calculated must be 30 euros or less to qualify for full payment
 
Thanks Windup. If the late spouse was entitled to a Contributory Pension does it follow that the Widow would be entitled to a Contributory Widows Pension by virtue of this fact..she would not have the required "stamps" in her own right

If a person has a pension from a former employer that person (or the spouse of that person) must have worked for many years to earn that pension. That person (or spouse) would have paid PRSI during those years giving them an entitlement to Contributory Widows which is not means tested
 
The scenario i had in mind was where a widow was getting a pension as a result of her deceased husband pension.
 
If this widow has a pension from her late husband's employer it is likely that she also has a Contributory widow's pension based on the PRSI contributions her late husband paid during his working life.

This widows pension (Contributory) will not be reduced by any other income or pension she has. However if the combined income is over 18,000 and she is age 65 or over she may be liable for tax.
