Nokia loss of bluetooth connectivity

I have a Nokia mobile phone and bluetooth headset. Both working fine for months until this morning. The connection from phone to headset failed. I can search for devices from the phone, find the headset, but cannot connect to it. It just comes up with connection failed.

Visibly everything is fine. Bluetooth connectivity enabled on phone, headset turned on and fully charged, phone can see the headset but not establish full connection.

Is there anything I can do to debug this further before trying to get my hands on an alternate headset or phone to test with?
 
Fixed. For benefit of future readers, nothing in the user manuals for the phone or the headset were of any use. Turning off/on the headset made no difference. Turning off/on the phone did the trick.

There must be a microsoft product in there somewhere.
