Hi just want to see if this is legitimate
Was in a pizza take away in Stillorgan last night, ordered a pizza then saw a vending machine so stuck some money in it for a bottle of coke.
Upon putting €1 in, it swallowed the coin and didn't register as having put in anything - I complained to the guy at the counter and he said "oh yeah, it's broken" - no sign up on it anywhere and it was still plugged in.
I then asked for my money back which he refused as he said it was nothing to do with him or his shop. He told me to ring a number on the vending machine and get a refund that way.
Now while I understand that neither he nor the owner of the pizzeria own the machine - the fact that they knew it wasn't working and didn't notify customers or just unplug it makes me feel they should have refunded me my money (which they refused to do). I know it's only a quid and I must have little else to worry about but it really pi$$ed me off.
Was he right, or should he have refunded my money?
His actions mean I will never go back to that pizzeria, where if he had have been a little less confrontational and maybe just given me a quid as a goodwill gesture I would happily return in the future!
GRR!
